The famous red- tailed hawk residing in New York’s central park Pale Male is known for establishing a dynasty of Red-tailed Hawks that dwell in urban areas.

A noted pigeon that got popularized for his service in the United States Army Pigeon Service when it carried the message of British forces capturing the village of Calvi Vecchia On 18 October 1943. His message reverted the attack that was scheduled on Italy by the Allies and thus saved thousands of lives of both British troops and the local Italians.

This pigeon is known to have carried ninety missions during the war time and was used for carrying crucial intelligence information with the British armed forces during the Second World War. He received the Dickin Medal which is similar to the Victoria Cross for three particularly noteworthy missions in 1942. This medal was then auctioned for £9,200.


#10.Cher Ami


Cher Ami also called dear friend was homing pigeon bred by British. He delivered 12 messages of the U.S. army during World war I. In the autumn of 1918 she was the one who helped conserve the Lost Battalion of the 77th Division in the Argonne battle.
